Born 1948 in Sandwich, Kent, England. Mother married an officer in the RAF so I attended many schools and scraped up some random education in Norfolk, Leeds, Hong Kong and Kent. Meningitis at age eight. Failed 11+. Lived in Hong Kong for two or three years where I caught cerebral encephalitis. Sandwich Secondary school, passed one GCE ‘O’ level (English).
