Writing not telling

Posted by Tony Cooper on August 21, 2010 at 1:42 PM Comments comments (0)

I have just finished writing 'Kent Folk Tales' for the History Press and it is now published. It already appears on the Amazon website. I must say that the writing of stories is much more difficult than telling them - audiences laugh, smile and generally encourage the teller. The computer simply states 'This sentence does not appear to have a noun' or 'Have you considered rewriting this paragraph?'

Damn rude, I call it.

It is now May, the book has been launched with local success and positive feedback is coming in. Joe Johnson of Shed Seven (and my son) has kindly put me up in York for a few days and recorded me telling a few of the Kent tale for making into a CD. Should be ready by September.
